I’m not one to usually post a lot of rider outfits but today I was especially pleased with how well equipped I was for the wind, cold and rain – and I was stylish (by my standards) too, so here I am!
This is the HV Polo Kari Parka jacket, which I bought online after researching for (seriously) weeks to pick a waterproof long riding coat. It seemed every coat I wanted was out of stock, or retailers weren’t getting more in for another few weeks, and I was tired of getting soaked, so wanted to buy something that was in stock and available immediately!
The coat is warm and padded, with brushed fleece pockets, and also unzips at the front and back so you can ride in it. I rode in it today and it was uber toasty and comfortable. It is waterproof to 8000mm, which is worth checking when you buy a waterproof coat – as lot of coats say they’re waterproof but are only so to 5000mm or less.
This coat cost me £169 (you might find it cheaper in the sales if you shop around) but I do think it was worth the investment.
(AD -PR PRODUCT) I am also wearing my Equisoc Ireland riding socks and they are hands down the best socks I’ve worn – a nice thick cosy foot keeps you warm all day, but the leg material is thinner so you’re not bulky under your boots. Also they come in lots of fun colours and patterns And only €9.95 for a pack of two which is a total bargain!
Finally, I rode in my FoxyEquestrian Riding Hat ear warmers which I bought a few weeks ago when I saw they had a discount code. You can get them in a range of patterns (I got mine to match the faux leather on my hat straps) and they are fleece lined – they kept my ears toasty in the howling wind today!
All I’m missing now is a pair of waterproof trousers and I’m away! Winter – I’m coming for ya!
(Disclaimer: I don’t think that having these things will make winter any less crap and I still hate it, but sometimes having nice things makes it more bearable )
