Yes, it might feel hard now. It might even feel impossible.
When you’re wobbling around in the saddle, feeling like a beginner. When your muscles ache from riding in new ways you’re not used to. When you’re dusting sand or dirt off your breeches – again.
It’s times like these we might feel like things are too hard. That we’re not capable, or not good enough. That we can’t.
But it’s times like these we have to remind ourselves that we’ve done this before. We’ve done hard things, mastered what once felt impossible, and worked hard at something until it started feeling easy.
Remember when mastering the rising trot was hard? And how you now rise and fall, or ‘sit for two’ without a second thought?
Remember how hard it was to coordinate the aids to canter?
Remember when you achieved something that felt impossible? Hold onto that feeling for when things get hard.
Whatever it is you’re trying to achieve – you can.
Maybe not today. Maybe not tomorrow.
Maybe it will take a while to get there.
Maybe you might need some help to do it.
But you can, and you will.
