Some of the best bits from our morning out cross country schooling at Killossery Lodge today – such a great range of fences with lots of options for everyone, from young horses to more experienced combinations.
Flash is such a keen little bean – I love how much she loves her cross country! As you can see I had to ask her to “whoa” a few times, particularly on the approach to a drop, as I learned the hard way not to bomb into one after my little swim at The Field earlier this year
I might have to review bitting options for XC – she’s currently in a snaffle but it’s not giving me the brakes I need, and taking too much of a check results in her fussing in the contact and she loses her focus on what’s in front of her.
Having watched all the footage back now, I’m actually super pleased with how our first day out in almost six months went – Flash was super, and it’s great to have the videos to learn from for the future.
And for those of you of drinking age, I have a new drinking game for you – take a shot for every time I say “good girl”
