The theme for Day Six of the 12 Days of Giftmas is Getting Personal. This gift guide is all about personalised gifts for the recipient – making it unique to them, and something special that they’ll treasure forever. Read on for personalised ideas for all kinds of gifts, and lots of different budgets – and if you’re looking to do something specifically with their pictures, why not check out Day Two: Cherished Memories?
- A Personalised Drawing of their Horse (or other animal!)
[AD – PR PRODUCT] Why not give them a timeless gift by having an artist draw a personalised piece that captures a funny or memorable aspect of their horse’s personality? Creations by Katie is run by Katie Mortimore, a photographer and talented artist who can capture the true essence of any horse’s (or human, or other animal’s!) personality, and provide it to you in an A4 mounted drawing that you can cherish forever. I had the pleasure of meeting Katie via a group on social media, and she kindly offered to do a drawing of my two horses for me – and boy did she capture them perfectly as you can see from the image here! All you have to do is give Katie a description of the human, horse or other animal, tell her a bit about their personality, and give her some images, and she will draw an original and unique drawing for the person, mounted and ready to go! The price for an A4 commission is £75, and Katie has a range of other options for all budgets here. To see more of Katie’s work, make sure to follow her on Instagram.
- A Rosette Hanger
It’s a common complaint of horse owners who compete is they are never sure what to do with their rosettes (humble brag?!) or where to put them all. Why not get someone a personalised rosette hanger with their name on it? Centrepiece Rosettes & Gifts make personalised rosette hangers in a range of colours for just 20euro – I bought one a few years ago and it has become a focal point of my living room – even featuring in a lot of my calls as the background while I was working from home during the first lockdown during COVID! I’ve put all my rosettes and even my sashes on it – and in this image you can only see half of the space available as I have folded it in half, it is twice as long so lots of space for those that are VERY competitive and win lots of frillys!
Tara of Centrepiece Rosettes & Gifts has kindly offered a 20% discount to all followers of Inside Track Eventing until 30th November – just use the code INSIDETRACKEVENTING at the checkout to avail of your discount!
- A Stable Door Name Plaque
[AD – PR PRODUCT] And if you’re taking advantage of the 20% off discount from Centrepiece Rosettes & Gifts, why not use it to get a personalised name plaque for the horse’s stable? Tara was kind enough to create a Metallic Gold Stable Door Plaque for both Paddy and Flash for me, and as you can see they are absolutely stunning! These plaques come in a range of designs, sizes and colours – from metallic, to wooden, to signage material. Prices start from just 20euro, and that doesn’t include the 20% off – so for a truly personalised stable door plaque with a range of options to choose from, you’re getting a great bargain!
- A Personalised Headcollar
Why not get someone a lovely headcollar with their horse’s name on it? Many companies will offer the option to engrave a tag or brass plate with a horse’s name, and add it to a leather headcollar. One example is TRI Equestrian, who I have used in the past to put names on my headcollar – and I highly recommend the Tesoro Headcollar which I have for Flash (which I was given for free from TRI Equestrian for PR purposes). You can get the personalisation done in store or alternatively call them to order this service over the phone!
- Personalised Clothing for Horse & Rider
Another lovely gift is personalising a jacket, cooler or saddlepad with a horse or stables’ name. If the recipient of the gift has their own stables or brand name, why not embroider this or their logo onto a gilet or jacket, or a cooler – or if they are an amateur with one horse, why not give them an embroidered saddlepad with their horse’s name on it? If you are in Ireland, TRI Equestrian offer this, and if you are in the UK, a company I have come across recently is Team Equestrian who offer this service!
- A Base Layer or Hat Silk in their XC (or favourite) Colours
Do you know what your gift recipient’s favourite colours are? Or are their XC colours looking a little tired and could do with some revival? Look no further than Foxy Equestrian, who allow you to design your own base layers and hat silks in a wide range of colours and designs. Or if you’re unsure, you could just gift them a voucher and allow them to choose themselves!
- Their own Christmas Decoration
Why not get them a Christmas decoration with their horse’s (or another special animal/human’s) name on it? The Crafty Giraffe make beautiful personalised wooden Christmas decorations, and have a wide range of horse breeds available in their decorations which I think is just fabulous! Even better, the items start at just £5.95!
- A Personalised Shopper/Grooming Kit Bag
Three years ago I received the gift of a personalised jute shopper bag from a good friend, created by Art by Suzie – and I have been a lifelong brand fan ever since! I have ordered two more personalised bags from her as gifts for others, and recommend them to everyone I know! Suzanne is an equestrian enthusiast and artist from Limerick, Ireland, who draws beautiful designs on lovely jute bags based on images you shared – here is the one I received with an image of me on one side, and Paddy on the other, that I use as my grooming bag! She has also created lovely shopper bags for bridal parties, and with lots of other people and animals on them – I had a family drawn on one and my friend’s horse drawn on another!
- A Personalised Horse & Hound Cover
Is it not every horse owner’s dream to make the cover of Horse & Hound? Give them the gift of being a cover star this Christmas for £45 by emailing [email protected] to order!
So there’s a few ideas to make Christmas extra special for someone this year, no matter your budget – I would love to know if you end up getting any of these as gifts, please share them with me, as they are all brands I have used and love so much!
Stay tuned for tomorrow’s guide which is currently being finalised!
